Arusha, 28 September 2020: The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights is pleased to announce to the general public the publication of its revised Rules of Court, adopted on 1 September 2020, which entered into force on 25 September 2020. These Rules replace the 2010 Rules of Court.
The new Rules of Court seek to enhance the effectiveness of the Court by, among other things, facilitating access to the Court, improving the management of cases as well as ensuring better implementation of the decisions of the Court.
The soft copy of the Rules has been uploaded on the website of the Court in French and English (the Arabic and Portuguese versions will be uploaded in due course).

NOTES FOR EDITORS:
1. The Court is composed of eleven Judges, nationals of Member States of the African Union elected in their individual capacity.
2. The Court meets four times a year in Ordinary Sessions and may hold Extra-Ordinary Sessions.
